Meet the Performers

2010 Electric Youth, Ali ~ Age 18

I can never thank my Mom enough for starting me in dance when I was two years old. I knew when I started; I would never be able to stop dancing. I have been a student at FSPA for eleven years, taking my first class here in the second grade. I have studied six disciplines of dance, including ballet, tap and jazz for fourteen years, point for six years, modern for four, and Hip Hop for three. My favorite thing about FSPA is the family feeling you get when you are here. All these people are not my friends; they are my brothers and sisters. I want to always continue my dance study and keep improving my voice and acting skills.  I WOULD LOVE TO WORK IN DISNEY!

I first saw Electric Youth when they performed at a Gala and I was in awe. When I saw Colleen Megley in her black and white, she instantly became my role model, and I wanted to be just like her. I made it my goal to be a part of this amazing group of performers. I love the fact that Electric Youth is not a group of teenage singers and dancers, but a "family" and I adore the friendships I have made. I just love going to EY rehearsals because we always have so much fun. Being in Electric Youth has helped me become much more confident as a performer and helped me learn how to handle different situations that can occur on stage. We learn to pick up choreography very quickly because we memorize the vocals and dance moves to more than 60 songs. I would say that a challenge this year will be making the songs that I’ve done for so many years, new & exciting.

Going on tour is so rewarding. It gives you such a feeling of independence and responsibility and it has opened my eyes to many different cultures. I loved getting to see "The Kiss" painting, learning a zillion historical facts, the beaches and the shopping in Italy, and seeing our audiences full of people that really enjoy our music. My favorite tour memory was two years ago when my stuffed animal “NEMO” was stolen and it turned into a huge tour game. Even our bus driver Franz was in on it, and he ended up stopping the bus claiming we had an engine problem, opened the hood, and pulled out my “Nemo”. I also loved being in Europe while the soccer cup was going on. It was crazy seeing the mob of fans running down the streets of Vienna all dressed in red.
